JEREMY BRENINGSTALL: Documentary Photographer

 
 

Jeremy Breningstall is a documentary and art photographer based in San Francisco, California. He specializes in dance, concert and other live-action photography. He is a skilled portraitist and street photographer. He has held solo exhibitions in several cities in China and been featured in group exhibitions in California, Colorado, and Minnesota. He has been the recipient of awards from the San Diego Press Club, International Photography Awards, Boulder Open Photo Show and San Diego County Fair. His photo book Dance in America was published in 2006, followed by China Files in 2009. Breningstall's current photo work can be licensed for publication through Zuma Press.


As an assignment photographer, Breningstall has worked with the Zurich Ballet, Shanghai Fantasia acrobatic troupe and an official production of “Cats,” among other enterprises. His photo coverage from the 2011 World University Games, Pan American Games and NFL season was published by Sports Illustrated.com. His sports photography has also been featured in newspapers in Germany, the Netherlands and other countries around the world.


In addition to photography, Breningstall is also an accomplished writer and teacher. His news and op/ed articles have been published by the International Herald Tribune, Washington Post, Minneapolis Star Tribune and numerous other publications. He received awards from the Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association for investigative and news reporting in 2000 and 2001. In 2008, he was the recipient of a Friendship Award from the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics for excellence in teaching.
